Queenstown passive solar home
1/5
Queenstown - Passive Solar Home
Scope: Concept only at Jacks Point, Queenstown
Design Principles: Leading 9 to 10 Homestar smart home integrates concrete thermal mass, black steel, and an active pre-heating conservatory over a dedicated mechanical basement. Energy and climate are managed via a solar-powered 22kW battery microgrid, dual-zone geothermal HVAC with ERV ventilation, and automated exterior louvers. Resource efficiency is driven by a 15,000-litre rainwater cistern and a sub-surface graywater recycling loop. The entire ecosystem is orchestrated by a unified KNX automation backbone using real-time data from a distributed network of environmental and CO₂ sensors.
Timeline: Concept Only
Consultants: TBC
